A diptych of two black & white photos; the left photograph is of a fire raging across a mountainside, filling the sky with smoke. The right shows a person sitting on a rocky hill in the center of the photograph, framed on either side by the Vasquez Rock Formation. The sky is filled with clouds, mimicking the smoke seen in the first image.

The painting follows a monochromatic purple color scheme. The bottom of the canvas is draped in tulle.
